The morning after the wedding I realized that not only did I miss the cutting of the cake because I had just finished my F.O.B. speech and was putting myself back together, but I didn't eat any of it either. I didn't take a single picture at the wedding because I wanted to experience every glorious moment through my eyes without a camera in front of them. I did break from my normal morning routine of some kind of nut butter on whole grain toast with my coffee, and had a slice of wedding cake instead.
We don't have the photographer's photos yet, so the pictures I do have were from Jessie's camera, taken by someone else. The only exception is the slice of wedding cake above. The cake itself had three different cake flavors, stacked atop one another in askew cubes. I think the top was carrot cake and the bottom was the raspberry layered poppy seed. I haven't a clue what the other flavor was...bad dad...bad.
The menu was great of course, having been picked out by Jessie.
The appetizers were savory little crab cream puffy things and some kind of egg rolls. I didn't get any of these, so I may be off.
A wonderful green salad with romaine lettuce, apple, glazed pecans, gorgonzola cheese and a champagne vinaigrette dressing. I should have had more of this.
A variety of bread rolls including foccacia bread sticks, which is what I had.
London broil, which was an amazing lean and savory cut. I should have had more of that too!
Chicken breasts with rosemary and an orange glaze.
Green beans.
And a great selection of fruits, melons and strawberries with a chocolate mousse fondue for dipping. This stuff was really yummy.
The drinks were red and white wine, champagne (of course) and 2 kinds of beer on tap; Bud Light, and my personal favorite... Fat Tire.
And a few more wedding shots just this minute arrived by email...
