Iiiiit's Friday! Happy happy joy joy. Why am I so happy
and annoying this morning?!?!
Because I got my Christmas present from the husband yesterday! Unfortunately (fortunately?) you all have to read through my food choices before I reveal it.
That or you can cheat and scroll to the end of this post but I trust you're at least somewhat interested in food. Why else would you be reading this?
I nibbled on some of this almond butter Wednesday night so I could have the perfect amount left to make oats in a jar for
breakfast on Thursday. I always think of
Snackface and her reference to "
d*ck in a box" when I make this now. It is Christmastime after all.
.
Made with 1/3 cup oats, water, half a brown banana, cinnamon and whatever AB was in that lovely little jar.

Not very voluminous is it? I've been using extra thick rolled oats and they don't seem to puff up as much as regular oats in the microwave. *And no, I don't microwave the jar.*
Mid-morning snack:

For
lunch I brought some leftover tempeh stir fry,

as well as my daily apple.
Afternoon snack: Almond butter and banana quesadilla. No cheese was involved so I think that may be the wrong term. AB & B-adilla?

Whatever you want to call it, this totally hit the spot. Warm and melty almond butter, a slightly green and still firm banana and a crispy tortilla. I could eat about 7 of these. But since I had plans to cook a delicious dinner, I stopped at one.

So good, in fact, it deserved an extra photo.

For
dinner I made some whole wheat spaghetti with fire roasted marinara sauce. I added some onion, mushrooms, ground beef and spices to the sauce. With steamed green beans and two pieces of delicious garlic bread on the side. *This is on one of my salad plates by the way, they're 8 inches across.*

Ok, ready to see my Christmas present?? Now I know this is going to seem totally stupid to those of you who don't care about cars.
My husband is a mechanic - I'm pretty sure that somewhere in my wedding vows I guaranteed a never-ending interest in the automotive industry. Anywho, I drive a Jeep. I love my Jeep. She is my baby.
.
Quick fact about me: I'm also a girly girl. I take an hour to do my hair and make-up in the mornings, hate camping (too dirty), prefer vacuuming to mowing the lawn, find any occasion to wear heels and when I was little, could play for hours in mud and get nothing but my hands dirty.
.
BUT I love big, intimidating, massive trucks and SUVs.
My dream car? A Hummer. Ooohh yeah. My reaction to seeing a giant, lifted, shiny truck driving down the street is similar to construction workers seeing a half naked
Gisele Bundchen walking down the street. I don't whistle (because I can't) but I sure stare and drool.
.
My husband knows this about me - soooooo, he "borrowed" my Jeep yesterday. Then when I went to pick it up after work I found that he put a lift kit on my baby and bought me brand new 31" tires!!! (If you don't care about cars, again, I'm sorry you have to read this.)

Love. It feels so much taller when I drive it. Similar to me wearing those heels I talked about up above. Confidence in material form.

Now, it's nothing
close to his Jeep but I'm happy! Those are 35" tires. I have to take a
running leap to even get into this monster. I made the mistake of wearing a short skirt once when getting into this....I flashed all of Moab, Utah in the process.

I once told him that the first thing I noticed about him was his rugged, black Dodge truck. I wasn't lying. :)

We've got a hockey game to attend this evening and then I'm
finally going Christmas shopping tomorrow. I also have my work Christmas party tomorrow night - can't wait!
You're going to be stylin' driving your new lift and tires to the hockey game!!
ReplyDeleteNICE!! love the new tires! I have a Jeep too and LOVE it :) and my boyfriend is very handy and drive a toyota tacaoma and obessed with cars so mine is always spotless, and he always is fixing something on either my car or his, I think in his 2nd life he would love to be a car machanic LOL
ReplyDeleteenjoy it!!
Aw what a fun gift!! I have this thing about needing to feel up higher when I drive - it just makes me feel safer. Good luck shopping!!
ReplyDeleteAt least now I know how you're able to get up and off to work in all that snow! Seriously, your car dwarfs me. I like the little low riders.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought your title referred to oats in a jar, which I would get that excited over.
Hahaha thanks for the shout-out! Tis definitely the season.
ReplyDeleteI totally microwaved my oats in the glass jar last time I made oats in a jar. It was magical.
My family is a HUGE car family. Not as in huge cars, but my dad's a manager at a dealership, broskie's obsessed, we own more cars than we have family members...it's crazy!
What a great present! And I love that your dream car is a hummer. My husband would LOVE you.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
have fun at your hockey game love!! your naner PB quesidillas look AWEEESOME!! i want one!
ReplyDeleteHa! So fun! I actually dated a guy in high school that had a Toyota truck all raised and high with the fat, noisy tires and I loved it! We used to go to a dried river bed and go 4 wheeling- so fun!! And I could always hear one of those trucks coming a mile away!
ReplyDeleteYour eats look super yummy. Bummer about the lack of oat volume. Have you tried the pimped up egg white trick where you whip the egg whites til frothy then add them to the oats on low heat (so you don't get scrambled whites?)- you can use pasteurized EW so you don't get salmonella :-)
Glad you are enjoying your Christmas prezzie!
I just found your blog and wanted to say hi! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the AB+B dilla!!! ;)
Yay for hockey games! After having a larger car, I like bigger cars too. Bad gas mileage and all, I'll stick with the crossover size.
ReplyDeleteyay! gifts are always great, but they're especially wonderful when you LOVE them.
ReplyDeletei can def appreciate nice tires. love the gift!!
ReplyDeletewoo! girl that is SO exciting about your jeep :) I like feeling "big" on the road.. its like your in charge;)
ReplyDeleteYour B-dilla is awesome.. Xoxox
love yah!!!!
I'm not a car girl, but I your hubs is so sweet to do that for you, and I'm happy it made you happy!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I AM interested in the food! But also your life :) What kind of tempeh do you buy?
tires are expensive! you are lucky he bought you those! I lost a month of rent by buying mine! those will come in handy with all that darn snow!
ReplyDelete@ Thinspired - Lara, I don't remember what brand of tempeh that was, I threw away the packaging a while back. I normally just get the plain version from Whole Foods or King Soopers. I want to say LightLife brand...?
