Dr. Kracker samples and a Christmas party

Oh hi there. :)
.
How is everyone's Sunday going so far? My head hurts a bit this morning but it's nothing a few hours of lounging, water guzzling and blog reading can't fix. I had a blast yesterday though, we called it a night around midnight and my wonderful husband picked me up after my work party and drove me home.
.
I started my Saturday with a bit of pre-breakfast to get me up and out the door. Just a small apple -
and a skinny chai with a shot of espresso from The Human Bean.
My favorite part? The little chocolate covered coffee bean on top.
I spent the majority of the morning and early afternoon Christmas shopping with my husband's best friend, Travis. We finally picked out and purchased Dave's elusive present. It took a while for them to process everything so we grabbed some brunch while we waited. No picture (not many of our friends know about the blog) but I had a short stack of pancakes, coffee and a side of smoked ham. I don't know why, but I had been craving ham like crazy and this seemed like a good time to squash that craving. It hit the spot.
.
We made it back and picked up the present. My husband doesn't read my blog but just in case I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag. Let's just say I'm a good wife and our bank account is quite a bit smaller. One other thing - what is this creature??? It's a little animal that makes a noise used to call coyotes. Travis thought it was a bunny. I just think it's cute - I wanted to take it home with me.
I dropped Travis off at his house and finally made my way back home. Luckily Dave had already left to go to the bank and get his truck cleaned so I was able to get his gift inside the house and hidden without incident.
.
Not long afterward the FedEx man rang my doorbell. I found a wonderful surprise from Dr. Kracker. Look at all these samples! Big thank you to George over at Dr. Kracker!!
I had a late lunch around 3 o'clock of a green monster, a Sunflower Cheddar flatbread as well as a few krackers from the plethora of samples.
  • frozen banana
  • vanilla soy milk
  • vanilla extract
  • about 3 cups of spinach
  • scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
The flatbread was really good, a bit crispier than I had expected but the flavor was great. I also popped open the Fire Roasted Crisps to try. Of course, as a hot sauce addict, I went for the spiciest flavor first. They were also really flavorful with a nice crunch. These are definitely addictive. The serving size is 8 pieces. Um, I definitely didn't stop at one serving. I had a taste going and they went really well with the cold smoothie.Normally I would have opened every single box to try each flavor but I held back. I want to make these last so I will review each flatbread and kracker when I first try it, sound good?
.
Now onto the Christmas party. I didn't get as many photos as I had hoped but I did manage to capture one of my many drinks throughout the evening - the ever famous Rio margarita!
I had a frozen strawberry light (light meaning half the amount of strawberry) margarita, this original one on the rocks and then I split a frozen mango marg with a co-worker. For dinner I kept it pretty light. Instead of a heavy, cheesy, calorie-laden meal I went with what sounded good - a mahi mahi salad with mango vinaigrette dressing and jalapeno-mango salsa.
Surprisingly I didn't dig into the chips and salsa as much as I had expected. I was still pretty full from my kracker indulgence earlier.
.
Group shot:
My manager was about 2 margaritas ahead of me. Can you tell??
After dinner a few more people showed up along with my husband. We made our way across the street into a bar where my manager bought a round of Jagermeister for all. I hate Jager but somehow managed to get it down. I also sipped on a Bud Light.
.
Poor sober Dave, I look happy though...see my half empty beer?
Another shot - Dave is bored and I'm three sheets to the wind.
I'm currently collapsed on the couch with my laptop, listening to the washing machine and dishwasher roar away. I've been self medicating with lots of water, a giant yogurt mess and some English Breakfast tea. Now if only I could muster up the ambition for a shower....

  2. Handovers are the worst!

That Green Monster is one of the prettier ones I've seen. I tried making one with frozen spinach once (I guess that's a mistake in Green Monster world?). I didn't like it, needless to say. I need a re-do with fresh spinach.

Good luck getting back to 100%!

  7. I think you know this already, but I have a bunch of friends/family who don't know about my blog, either! Makes it difficult to snap photos in a group meal setting!

Love those Dr. Krackers. I remember the fire ones were good, but my favorite were the apple flavor. Did they send you those? They were really good with cheese!

Great pic of your manager. I would save that one for a rainy day in case you ever need to blackmail, er, I mean bargain ;)
