Exhausting

Whew, yesterday was quite a day. I'm still worn out and I only had a few drinks! I made sure to start the day with a filling oatmeal breakfast.
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 and 1/3 cup water
  • half a banana
  • flaxseed
  • Earth Balance almond butter (can't see it, I buried it so it would melt)
  • raisins
  • walnuts
  • pomegranate arils
As I mentioned in my last post, it was my turn to be the designated driver for the day. We had about a 7 hour timeline for the Kwaiser Krawl so I decided I could have three drinks and that was it. I wanted to be sure whatever I chose for my three drinks was worth it and I wasn't just drinking for no reason. Whenever attending events like these where I am limiting my choices, I want them to be worth the splurge. Never do I want to look back on a day full of sub-par food and drink with regret.
.
We met at Old Chicago around noon where everyone congregated, ate lunch and started drinking. Since my breakfast was less than two hours before, I did not eat anything. Just sipped on some water.
.
Bar number two was at a favorite place of ours, the Crown Pub, where I grabbed a glass of champagne. I love champagne and not many bars just offer a glass of it since an open bottle only lasts so long. This place serves mimosas on the weekends and always has a bottle of freshly opened champagne.Bar number 3 - Stonehouse Grille. The founder of the Kwaiser Krawl, John Kwaiser is there in the green. This was the 22nd year celebration, my favorite number! I also snapped a picture of our resident "Bad Santa." His real name is Eric, and he's pretty entertaining.
Dave and I at the Stonehouse Grille, once again I drank water.
Bar number 4 - Austin's American Grill. This was the one I was looking forward to the most. As I've blogged about before, I love going to this place and I especially love the fact that they fresh-squeeze the grapefruits and oranges for their drinks. I had a greyhound and Dave ordered a screwdriver.
Kwaiser with his girls. And no, I don't mean his daughters.....
Bar number 5 - Lucky Joe's Sidewalk Saloon. This was Dave's beer but I took a photo just to show you all the best part about this place, unlimited free peanuts! I had a handful with my water.Bar number 6 - Town Pump, also known as "the smallest bar in Colorado." (If you click on that link, there are a couple reviews from people that are pretty funny.) This place can legally hold 40 people and is shockingly tiny. I would advise against going to the bathroom there because it's smaller than a port-a-potty and not nearly as sanitary. One thing we go there for is their jello shots!! I had a couple, here was one of them.
The group bought $80 worth of jello shots (80 shots total) as well as $20 of atomic cherries (60 cherries). The cherries are just standard maraschino cherries soaked for days in Everclear. They are disgusting! But I've never liked maraschino cherries to begin with so my opinion doesn't really count.
Bad Santa with a jello shot.
Me feeding Dave a cherry from my mouth. It's one of our things, if either of us gets a cherry in a drink or on a dessert I stick the stem in my mouth and hold it for him to eat. I also "fed" a cherry to our host, John Kwaiser. Lol.
Our cherry tradition soon caught on....pretty soon the whole bar was doing it.
The event ended at a local restaurant for dinner but Dave and I were more than ready to head home so that's what we did. My dinner was a frozen Amy's pizza. I was to the point of hangry by then because I hadn't eaten anything besides a few peanuts since breakfast!!! GAH!
Unfortunately I burnt my hand pretty badly on the pizza pan. Go figure. I'm not surprised. I can hurt myself walking around a corner..... I also overcooked the pizza so I only ate the still-soft middle part and left the overdone, crunchy crust.
.
Dessert: Some dry cereal. Of course. :)Then I had a mini bag of popcorn with some melted carob chips.
Today I took a picture of the burn from the pizza pan - it still hurts like a mother. I'm not sure if it will blister or not. I can't put any pressure on it yet, my skin is still screaming at me. Showering last night was brutal.
Pictures don't do it justice, the skin is like a shiny leather patch. Blech. We'll see how well it heals.
.
In Other News: You may have noticed that I didn't mention getting any Christmas shopping done yesterday. Well, that would be because we didn't stop anywhere besides bars!!! I was so irritated. Now I have one weekend left. Way to procrastinate.....I do this every year. :-[
.
Enjoy your Sunday!!!

  3. Hi. Lavender oil is wonderful for burns. I have used it on sunburn as well as cooking burns. Essential oil of lavender diluted in a little plain oil or alcohol free cream/ointment/serum rubbed in several times a day. Alcohol free is important because the alcohol dries out the skin. Don't make it too dilute!

The only downside is that it may make you sleepy!

    Best wishes,
    Bearfriend xx
