Grocery addict

I was completely uninspired yesterday morning for breakfast. Nothing sounded very appetizing yet I was extremely hungry. Hmm, quandry. I quickly made a random yogurt mess, sans fruit. Plain Oikos, Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon and Go Lean with a dollop of Daisy cashew butter. I really wanted a sliced banana with this but I only had one brown one which = oatmeal. I can't stand the texture of an overripe banana, once they get spots I transfer them to the 'use for oatmeal' pile.
.
Mid-morning snack:
Snack Lunch: Bell pepper, apple and salmon w/cottage cheese.
After work I ran to the chiropractor's office for a much needed adjustment, a haircut appointment (just for a trim) and to the grocery store for a few things. Answer me this, am I the only foodie who doesn't have a set food budget?? Honestly, I would spend most of my money on food and not care. It's so worth it to me.
.
I went into the store with a list of three items: bananas, almond butter and tortillas. I grabbed a basket and wandered about the store. Side note: the best way for me to control my spending in grocery stores? Baskets instead of carts!
.
Twenty minutes later I left with my bananas, almond butter & tortillas. As well as: 4 tubs of Oikos, garlic bread, 2 Clif bars, 2 Larabars, one Z-bar, 2 Clif Mojo bars, black beans, 2 Cookies & Cream Spiru-tein packets, no calorie peanut spread (more on that later), Kashi Go Lean, and a partridge in a pear treeeeee. Whoops.
.
Afternoon snacks: I noshed on one of the Mojo bars in the parking lot on the way home.
Once at home, I made a small yogurt mess to snack on while putting away groceries.
Dave had a hockey game to attend and luckily I had already formulated a plan for dinner in my head yesterday morning. I'm not the only one who thinks about what to have for dinner while eating breakfast right?? Please agree with me here. :) Thanks.
.
Tempeh stir fry with broccoli, carrots, Bragg's, garlic, fresh ginger, sesame seeds and toasted sesame oil.
I ate half the pan - so good, I loved the kick from all the freshly grated ginger.Dessert: Oreo McFlurry Cookies & Cream Spiru-tein blended w/soy milk & ice.
I painted this mug too, it's not as snazzy as the bowl though.
Other bites, licks & tastes: Some almond butter straight from the jar before dinner. (You'll see why tomorrow morning....OIAJ!)
.
Workout: Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred. For the first time, this workout did not feel challenging. Time for heavier weights? :)
.
Question for you: What's one weird dream you've had lately?? Last night I dreamed that someone loaded a gun with grilled cheese and tomato and shot my husband. I woke up in the middle of the night crying. Then I went back to sleep and had a dream that I was Janetha, tracked the shooter down and kicked his ass. :)

  1. I keep track of my grocery money, but I'd rather go over and enjoy eating than limit myself. I agree it's just worth it.

Last night I had some dream about me and my grandmother being killed, but then I could go back and respond to the killers differently and try to "win" like it was a video game. Not so much weird as scary

  3. I definitely always go to the grocery store for "one or two items" and leave with much more. No food budget, either! I spend lots of my monthly budget on food, but at least it's healthy stuff! :)

Cute painted mugs. I have some I painted too and just love them!

What a dream! Haha! I have a crush on a particular athlete (I mean, who doesn't!?) and I dreamed we were dating. It was great!

  9. I am with you on the basket thing. the only problem is that I load it up anyway and then some grocery clerk comes and offers me a cart because he sees I'm toting around 50 pounds of groceries in a basket and the circulation in my arm is being cut off!

I love your cup- very talented!

i had a dream that Lara from Thinspired (who I've met), Jenn from Eating bender (who I haven't met) and I were hanging out and they were wearing bikinis but I was too timid :-D Ah the decaying mind.

Your comments have been cracking me up all over the blogosphere by the way- hilarious sense of humor!

  10. I'm totally with you on the thinking about meals before it's time for them thing. I am always at least 3 meals ahead. My husband doesn't know what he is going to have until 5 minutes before he has it. It's so weird to me!

  11. I will never understand people who hate the grocery store and have no idea what they're going to be eating for the next two meals (okay, at least the next meal.)

I am in the grocery store a few times a week and get what I need and want, within reason. No set budget, as I would rather cut back anywhere else than in the food department!
