Ode to Sunday

Sunday is one of those days that has it's own energy, it's own feeling. You can feel Sunday - at least I can. Back when I was in high school & college Sundays were depressing, they signified the end of the weekend and the looming of the darkest day, Monday. Now I look at Sunday as the start of a new week, a clean slate so to speak. Friday evening and all day Saturday I am a little more lenient on my eating and exercise but come Sunday, it's back to normal.
.
Or I should say Sunday afternoon because one of the best things about Sunday is brunch!
Huevos rancheros with salsa, scrambled eggs, Cholula and a side of fruit. I passed on the bloody mary bar and opted for water.
Another great thing about Sunday is football. I'm not the fanatic - while I do love a good Broncos game I'm even more enthusiastic about having the day to do whatever I want since Dave will inevitably be watching football somewhere. This Sunday was no exception. He stayed after brunch with his dad to watch some games while I headed off to the grocery store and then back home for a relaxing afternoon of blog reading, TV watching and me time.
.
Afternoon snack: Honeycrisp in my favorite bowl. I painted this beauty - yes I'm proud.
My appetite was nearly nonexistent most of the day, but I made sure to save room for a delectable combination of Oikos plain greek yogurt, pomegranate arils & almond butter for dinner. Using the same bowl of course.I also added a sprinkle of Kashi Go Lean for some extra crunch after I mixed it all together. Dinner of champions, right?

Workout: 20 minutes of Jillian's No More Trouble Zones DVD (focusing on core, lower body and chest)

I'm looking forward to getting back into my weekday groove more than ever. Each weekend for the next 3 weeks will be full of parties, family gatherings and tons of fantastic food. I'm not a martyr, I'm a foodie. As such, I can guarantee there will be no deprivation for this grazer. I intend to enjoy each event to the fullest but that is no reason why the other 6 days of the week need to be crap. Exercise, eat right and enjoy life. You never know how many parties you have left...

  4. Love your holiday party attitude. :-) I still kind of dread Sundays because it's back to work/school the next day...I've been known to get a pretty serious case of the "sunday blues"...maybe it's because I'm a teacher and I go to school for my job? Either way, I do LOVE having the day to myself to do whatever. Glad you enjoyed yours!
