Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers

Is that title completely absurd for a food blog or what?? Lol. There's a reason for it I promise. I also have a little assignment for you all further down in this post.
.
Let's begin at the beginning (quick! what movie did that remind you of?). I woke up to a couple inches of snow yesterday morning which meant I needed to leave a bit early. Luckily I was able to prep a portable breakfast to eat in the car. BTW, I hate eating in my car! Anyone else feel the same?? I feel like such a slob...
Banana burrito! Whole wheat tortilla, MaraNatha almond butter, strawberry-rhubarb jam and some cinnamon. Messy.
Mid-morning snack: Raw almonds and dried fruitAs I mentioned yesterday, my packed lunch was leftover salmon (2 oz) with some cottage cheese and Spike seasoning.
With an apple and some veggies. Now, for the assignment. One of my co-workers just ordered these stamps. Aren't they cute?? The detail on them is so intricate. I love the little puns.Anyway, we can easily understand all but one. It baffled everyone. Does this make any sense?? "sorry about that" Sorry about what??We can't figure out what it's supposed to be...a paintbrush? A wheel from a cart (if you turn it counter clockwise). A pizza cutter? I'm confused....we all are. Help us out!! :) Thanks.
.
(Mom, this one made me think of you!)
Anywho. Afternoon snacks were had. Many of them. Starting with a mango:Some tempeh - yes, in the same bowl.
A couple dates stuffed with MaraNatha almond crack butter. Ok, I had three. No, wait, alright five. Damn. Ruined my dinner right there. They're just so good...
As a result, dinner was light and eaten later than usual. I tried a new flavor of soup:
Not bad, a little sweet for my taste but I think it's hard to find a perfect balance when it comes to sweet soups. I ground a bit a black pepper on top to help balance it out.
I also had a small bit of leftover Cabbage Roll Casserole. I know my salad and dinner plates are identical so, to clarify, this is a salad plate.
It was a good combo, spicy/savory and sweet. I couldn't finish all the soup though. Stupid AB filled dates....

Workout: 4 miles on stationary bike. Yeah, not much of a sweat session. I'm so incredibly sore from my workout a couple days ago, my upper abs and chest are just killing me. I love it!!! Even my armpits are sore....I love discovering new muscles.

Question: When you ruin your appetite do you still feel obligated to eat your next "meal"? I knew I needed more calories so even though I wasn't hungry I ate a little something for dinner. I was only at about 1300 calories for the day which I know is not enough to keep me going until the next morning. Normally I follow my hunger signals but sometimes you need to look at it from a different perspective....make sense?

  1. I love the cheese grater stamp
I try to level out my intake at the end of the day if I feel somethings amiss. I'm such a "meal eater" and not a snacker though that I don't have much problem

  3. ahh I am trying to figure out that stamp! it looks liek a tire and a paintbrush? so strange and now its going to bother me the rest of the day ahhhh

the date and crack..uhh I mean almond butter looks soo good!

I love my meals and they are always larger than my snack? BUT if i go overboard on a snack i in no way feel obligized to eat a large meal...i eat intuatively! (or at least try!!)

  4. Aha... I know exactly what that rubber stamp is! I grew up with them. It is an eraser that turns on a wheel with a small brush that you can use to sweep the eraser crumbs off of your paper. I would guess that the stamp implies: let's start over, clean slate, or something like that.

  5. if I gorged on something and spoiled my dinner appetite then I won't eat - no need to stuff myself - if i'm full i'm full. period. intuitive eating. the ONLY time I ignore those signals is if I say, ran 10 miles earlier in the day then I realize I do need the food and force myself to eat.

no clue on that stamp - that is baffling!!!

  6. It's an old fashioned eraser. You use the brush at the end to brush away the rubber left behind. I'm pretty sure I saw them laying around my grandparents house as a kid.

  7. Google "typewriter eraser"...I'm not sure why it spins or what they mean by "sorry about that," but it appears to be a typewriter eraser.

  9. I think I would like that soup :) I like sweet things that are supposed to be savory.

Re: low-calorie days. I always roll with it and don't make myself eat more, because those days happen so little! I know I will almost always make up for it later!

  10. Those those stamps! Funny! Could the mystery one be a white out brush? I have no idea. LOL. Dates and Peanut butter are so awesome. What a yummy snack!

  11. I had no idea what that stamp meant until I read the other comments! I would have never guessed...

Sometimes I feel obligated to eat a small meal if I ruin my appetite. I don't like waiting up in the middlge of the night hungry, so I'll eat something light before bed if I don't have an appetite for dinner (which is rare!)

  12. i initially thought it was one of those saw things they use in wood shop classes... you know the things that inevitably injure the teacher & cause him to only have 4 fingers???

  13. I know what you mean about spoiling your appetite, but sometimes something's just so good its worth it! Happened to me last Wednesday--ate a big PB jar of pumpkin oats for a late breakfast. I didn't force myself to eat lunch, though. I just let it slide by, crunched on some raw veggies in my afternoon classes, and had a nice salad when I got home that day. Worked out fine for me! I can never MAKE myself eat.

  14. Last Action Hero!? If so, one of my top 5 favorite movies ever. LOVE it. so underrated.

i thought maybe that stamp was an old-timey eraser -- like, oops, sorry, made a mistake, gotta erase it

  15. hello I'm a new reader. I was looking at your Dec 1 entry about the rubber stamps. I think I solved the mystery of what "sorry about that" referred to.

The picture actually shows a screw being screwed tight. So it kinda mean "sorry about screwing up". Hope this helps. :)
