I woke up yesterday with a touch of a sore throat, not good. I slammed an Emergen-C first thing which seemed to help a little.
- 1/2 cup extra thick rolled oats
- half a banana
- flaxseed
- cinnamon
- splash of soy milk
- topped with a Sunbutter/plain greek yogurt frosting
I think I just had an epiphany. I have all sorts of trouble when taking a picture of breakfast and dinner in my kitchen without a flash but for some reason this breakfast photo came out great. Why? Because it's on a white plate!!! My regular "nice" dishes are all black, hence the orange-ish photos and crappy lighting. It's all because of the darn plate! (Did you all know this? Am I just the last food blogger on earth to find this out???) Son of a...
Mid-morning snack:
For lunch I had an Oikos with Kashi Go Lean and pomegranate arils:
with some roasted kabocha w/sea salt.
I'm not sure what it is about this squash but every time I open up a Tupperware containing it, all I can smell is fart. Not the best food to be eating at work. Ranks right up there with tuna and hard boiled eggs. It tastes normal but something about the smell is getting to me. Maybe I've overdone it on the squash lately, I seem to get on specific food kicks and then suddenly get sick of eating the same thing.

My current lunch book -
I've read this once before but it's so good, I wanted to read it again. I was going to re-read New Moon but since it's so ridiculously popular now, I almost feel embarrassed to be seen reading it. That sounds stupid but I'm the anti-bandwagon girl, I hate doing something just because everyone else is.
.
I came home and found a fun surprise in the mail, the Nasoya coupons that I won from Iowa Girl Eats' giveaway! Thanks again IGE!
Afternoon cookie snack:
I had one of those 'I'm hungry but nothing sounds good' issues last night. I wandered around my kitchen for far too long before deciding on a baked microwaved sweet potato topped with hummus and avocado and some pan-cooked Brussels sprouts for dinner.
Other bites, licks & tastes: A couple chips with guacamole after lunch and a piece of Dave's mini-pizza after dinner.
.
Workout: I did my own 20 minute Jillian-style workout in my living room while watching Funniest Commercials of 2009..
In Other News:Check out this post from Coach Lark about eating smaller portions and "grazing" throughout the day. Looks like I'm not the only one who loves eating this way!
Squash has never bugged me. Hard boiled eggs on the other hand... someone walks into the gym every morning eating some and I want to vomit

ReplyDeleteyeah, there seems to be a lot of problems with "white balance" with white plate photography. that and my horrible lighting.
ReplyDeleteI love Water for Elephants! I could definitely read it again. Great idea to put avocado ans hummus on a sweet potato!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I am not the only one ... sometimes Brussels Sprouts make me gag when I have them too many days in a row.
ReplyDeleteWhite plate?! I've never even considered that this could have an effect on pictures! I can't wait to try it out!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love Water for Elephants - one of the best book endings of all time. And you should TOTALLY read the Twilight series...they are so good. Bandwagon or not.
