I added a new spin on my standard breakfast cookie recipe yesterday: protein powder.
.
Generally I'll only use protein powder in shakes but since it's still winter out there I decided I wanted to find some other ways to incorporate it into my meals. This 'cookie' is made with:
- 1/3 cup extra thick rolled oats
- half a mashed banana
- cinnamon
- 1 scoop vanilla creme whey protein powder
- flaxseed
- splash of soy milk
.
The protein powder did change the texture of it a little, it kind of puffed up?? I could definitely taste it but it wasn't overpowering.
.
Dinner was...good. I boiled 4 red potatoes (skin on), then used my hand mixer to make some killer mashed potatoes. Really - these were fantastic. I just added some milk, greek yogurt, butter and s+p. While prepping the potatoes I made the husband a chicken breast and cooked microwaved a bag of greek beans.
.
Then when we were ready to eat, he looked at his chicken and asked what I was having. My mouth dropped. Eff. I forgot to make my salmon.
So.
Yeah, my dinner was mashed potatoes and green beans with sea salt and Sriracha. My mouth was burnin'.

This stuff is fantastic!! I've seen it around on other blogs but never bought any before. New obsession. Because we all know that my current stash of hot sauce (Tabasco, Frank's & Cholula) is never enough.
.
Yesterday's Workout: 1.5 miles on treadmill followed by a total body routine on the Bowflex. I'm really loving that thing! There's so many different exercises you can do.
.
Cat Talk: The other night Dave was holding his cat, Vern, and I had to take a few photos. She luurves him.
He said he was trying to look mad here. Didn't work.
Weird. I swear she has a whole head. This photo came out so strange...DEMON KITTY!
.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
.
that cat scares me. what doesn't scare me is your taste in hot sauce. I use that stuff all the time at home for my ASIAN mom's ASIAN dishes.
ReplyDeletehow come you refer to your cats as your husbands cats??? this cracks me up. you're married so arent' they yours too?
ReplyDeletecute kitty!!!
Sarah - We have two cats, sisters, that we got when we were dating. We didn't live together yet so Pepper is technically "mine" and Vern is technically "his". But yeah - they're "our" cats too.
ReplyDeleteLol, when I read that I thought "Is she meaning to just eat mashed potatoes?" I guess not.
