I work extremely well under pressure. Finals week, term papers, designing my own wedding invitations - my best work generally results from my own procrastination and self-imposed pressure. Now that I'm in "the real world" with a somewhat laid-back occupation I don't feel that pressure anymore. I have my Bachelor's Degree, there are no more deadlines, no presentations or even any reason to procrastinate on a project. I'm lucky that I don't have to take my work home with me but I have a nagging feeling that there is something missing.
The truth is, I like pressure. I like having a goal, something to work toward. Right now I feel as if I'm at a crossroads in my life. Call it a quarter-life crisis if you want. But it's here and I'm not sure what road to take. My life is stagnant, I feel like I'm standing still & watching it float past. What's next on the horizon? Graduate school? A new job? Kids? I don't know and it's getting to the point where I feel the need to decide.
It's time for a change. Change is something I thrive on, something that makes me happy and keeps me on my toes. I'm excited to see what comes at me next and I know that no matter what is it, I'll be ready to take it on.

Ally over at Sweet & Savory tagged me with the Happiness Award. Thank you! I have already received this award back in January so these are my 10 things that make me happy. Is it odd that CHANGE is one of them??
ah, that's funny -- i thrive on routine!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck figuring out what your change will be. And good for you for noticing that things felt too stagnant. Some people would just let life pass them by!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome for the award! Hmm...maybe a change is a comin? I felt stagnant as well, right after I had my baby, we had moved, I was staying at home...blah...so that is why I started my blog. It helped me do something different with my mundane routine everyday. Now I'm trying to think what my next step will be!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I love pressure, but I like having something to always do. And I certainly have that now. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI hate change... I'm a same ol' routine kinda girl. Change is always scary... Ya know? All your eats look amazing :)
ReplyDeleteThe more you write, the more I am convinced that we were seperated at birth. Lol. I also thrive under pressure and am always looking to make changes and move onto the next thing...currently have no idea what that is, but I need *something*. So many ideas/options and just now sure which direction to go in.
ReplyDeleteCrazy craving for cornbread now!
I'm in the quarter life crisis boat with you. I am debating whether or not to tackle graduate school as well. Decisions, decisions!
ReplyDeleteoh i love a routine and calm days! pressure freaks me out!
ReplyDeleteIf you want a new challenge in life I'll train for a 5k with you. Secret is I love my jobs pay but i want more too. When Glenn and I move I might go to culinary school or joins photography class... Let me know what you decide. Blogging has satisfied me for now but I seriously know the feeling
ReplyDeleteI thrive on change as well! I am itching to get out of Durham and move someone else. Of course my husband needs to graduate and get a job first :)
ReplyDeleteahh i fall into the routine loving category but I do enjoy having set deadlines.. pressure brings out the best of me.. I really need that extra push to get going most of the times especially when it comes to my graduate school work... let me tell you!
ReplyDeletespring must be in the air because this is not the first post i have read today that talks about these things! i think everyone is looking forward to the changing season and in turn wanting to find some new things to do with themselves.. me included!

Grr, I've been in that "need change" phase for a few months now! I HATE being stagnant. I think after changing life every few years (high school, college, marriage...) I am expecting something big, but it's just not happening right now...hmm, maybe a lesson on patience for me? Sorry - rambling. :-)
