How I ended my February

Even though it's notorious for being Colorado's snowiest month (at least in my area) I'm so excited it's finally March. One month closer to spring, sigh. Too bad we got more snow last night...

My last day in February was a good one, I started off my morning with a cup of cinnamon coffee (just add cinnamon into the coffee grounds) with half & half. See the camera?
Then I continued the liquid breakfast theme with some fresh juice and ice water.
I spent a few hours blog-reading and reality tv watching before I made some real food around 11. I guess this would be brunch?
Yoatgurt! Don't mind the fact that I played with my food for the camera...
After eating I got ready & ran into town for some groceries and a spontaneous stop at Sports Authority where I accidentally spent $75. Whoops.

Snacks for the drive home:
The rest of the afternoon I lazed around the couch and cuddled with my cats - the husband is skiing up in Keystone at a bachelor party. My husband hasn't skied in 15 years, when I talked to him last night he said he only fell about 30-40 times. Eek.

Afternoon grazing took place:
Yes, that would be two glasses of wine and two No Carb Soy Muffins with Mighty Maple.
Then some puffed rice with soy milk.
For dinner I wilted about 3 cups of spinach with some EVOO, garlic powder and balsamic vinegar to go with my roasted sweet potato & baked beans.
This was my first experience roasting a whole SP - normally I bake them in slices or just microwave it. This one was roasted for 45 minutes at 400 degrees. It was the sweetest one I have ever tasted - almost too sweet. What an amazing difference!
Workout: Two circuits from Jillian's No More Trouble Zones DVD

Seriously Now

In December 2009 I made myself a workout calendar. Each day has a spot to write in my workouts and each month has a different inspiring photo depicting a new habit I would like to focus on that month.

January I focused on cardio. I managed to work out 20 of 31 days.

February I focused on adding more weight training. I did 13 workouts in 28 days (it's less because I was in Hawaii for 11 days).

March I will be focusing on both cardio & weights as well as adding in more fruits and veggies.

So in the spirit of honesty....this is embarrassing to post but I would like to show off my guns that I've been working so hard for the past couple months. Oh and my new Nike sports bra and shorts. Ha.
See my birthmark on my left arm??? Do you have a birthmark? Where is it?

  5. Yum for the juice - I was planning on making some today after my run!

Good job on the workouts! I'll have to come up with a March plan that is a little less demanding.

  6. Seriously I need a juicer. Also, oven roasted sweet potatoes ARE infinitely better...I only just discovered that you could microwave them, which is good for time, bad for taste.

I have a birthmark behind both ears. It's weird.

  9. Mmm, I love baking sweet potatoes- they really are so much sweeter than when they are microwaved. And I've never topped one with baked beans, but the combo sounds so delicious I'll have to try it!
I love reading your monthly goals- you should be so proud of your guns!! You look awesome!
    Have a great Tuesday!

  13. Your arms look great! You look awesome and fit in general!

Never thought to pair baked beans with a sweet potato before. I usually always have them on a baked potato (very British!). I'll have to try the SP to make it a little healthier...

    Hehe...love the yin&yang oats&yogurt! :)
