What I Learned This Weekend:
- I am shockingly productive when avoiding going home. I accomplish things I didn't even know needed to get done.
- I accidentally break glasses when I drink wine. Six (!) long-stem shotglasses to be more specific.
- I have no true girl-friends to spend time with. It's depressing.
- Want to get the in-laws out of the house? Offer them your hockey tickets. It's not like you have anyone to go with.
- Zucchini pancakes make great comfort food when you're alone with a bottle of wine on a Saturday night.
- 2 eggs
- 4 T flour
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups grated zucchini
- Roasted garlic hummus is a good substitute topping when you're out of cottage cheese and tomato (our traditional toppings).
- Online shopping is therapeutic. But very dangerous when simultaneously consuming alcohol.
- My new furniture looks great!
- Unfortunately, my cats love my new favorite chair too. As a scratching post...
- My in-laws didn't just come here for a wedding - apparently they're also house shopping.
- My husband is no longer allowed to leave town the same weekend his mom is here.
- I am a grammar Nazi. I can't help but correct people when they pronounce something wrong...
- Chicken, carrot sticks & hummus make a filling lunch - especially when you don't want to cook.
- Our Italian neighbors are amazing. They invited all of us over for a 4-course authentic Italian feast Sunday night.
- I think taking photos of your meal should be a more widely acceptable behavior.
- My mother-in-law and I can easily split a large bottle of pinot grigio with dinner without breaking a sweat.
- She is also shocked when I hop on the treadmill an hour afterward.
Love this post! Especially this:

Hehe :D
Your furniture is great! Comfortable? Did the rest get taken away without causing more damage to your walls?
The pancakes look delish.
I learned that kabocha squash goes with quite literally any kind of cuisine, that theI shouldn't second-guess recipes/make alterations and that people are very quick to judge what they don't understand.
Love the new furniture! Does that couch have a recliner in it too?
ReplyDeleteYou're making me hungry for zucchini pancakes! Hummus on top is brilliant.
I wish I could still split a bottle of wine with my mother in law.
Ah..you poor thing! Were your girlfriends not around, or do you live far from them? I also hate nights when I'm alone, and everyone else has plans:(
ReplyDeleteFurniture looks great!
hehehe!!! LOVE your learned confessions from the weekend! It sounds like it was FUN! I am loving those zucc pancakes chica! nom nom! hope you have a great monday! xoxo!
ReplyDeleteI love the new furniture. It's great. I love the chair! The zucchini pancakes look great. I feel the same way about girlfriends. I have one. And I wouldn't change her for the world.
ReplyDeleteJessie - try stemless wine glasses. Susie and I used to spill wine by tipping over stemmed glass. New glasses solved everything.
ReplyDeleteI learned from this post that I need to live close to you so we can go watch hockey games together, as I have no girlfriends either! (Plus, I want to eat at your neighbors.)
ReplyDeleteAnd your husband owes you...big time. Plus, they're shopping for a house? Sounds like the pilot episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond."
I learned that one weekend away from the gym will not kill me (but sitting back at work today might.)
P.S. As for the wine glasses? Just guzzle from the bottle. Problem solved.
Your furniture is beautiful! I love new stuff! Wine really does make things easier huh! :)
ReplyDeleteI am the worst at drunk shopping! I shouldn't be near a computer when after Ive consumed large amounts of wine or beer.
ReplyDeleteWait...do you really go on the treadmill after you've had wine?? Impressive!
i LOVE your furniture! so classy! dang that kitty.. hmmm. the italian feast sounds so great! i learned a lot this weekend. mainly about buying houses and planning weddings, but i dont want to think about it today.

ReplyDeleteLove the new furniture!! The chair is fab!
ReplyDeleteThat sucks about your inlaws. At least lessons learned? BTW why did you move to the city you are in? Are you not originially from there? Is that why you don't have good gfs? Don't worry..I'll be your blogging bff! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're furniture looks GREAT! I love that patterned chair...what a great accent! Hang in there with the in-laws!
ReplyDeleteIf my husband ever left me alone with his mother I think I would die.
