Lent failure & no couch

My appetite has been all sorts of insane this past week - and I have no explanation for it. No, I'm not pregnant. Although I did have a dream last night that my dad called & started yelling at me because he wanted grandchildren NOW. Lol.

Normally my appetite is roaring in the mornings but the past few days I haven't been able to finish my breakfast. It makes me sad, especially since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Yesterday I had yoatgurt - of which I ate about 2/3.
Mid-morning snack: My last No Carb Soy Muffin stuffed w/the last of my Mighty Maple.
It was a bittersweet snack. Goodbye Mighty Maple - does anyone know if the rumors are true that they aren't making it anymore?

Lunch was an unpictured egg salad & spinach sandwich on millet bread with an apple. Millet bread is not good cold - it fell apart almost instantly. Just a warning.

Afternoon snackage:
Plus a new product I found at Sprouts while stocking up for our visitors this weekend (more on that in a second). I've been trying to avoid gluten for a while - at least when I have the option to. It seems to be helping my stomach problems.
These are incredibly addictive - they literally melt in your mouth. I ate way too many. Apparently I was expecting the bag to put up more of a fight but it ripped in half almost instantly. Crap - sesame seeds all over my Jeep...
Well I guess this is the best time to point out that I haven't been doing good with one of my challenges for Lent.

Just a reminder - they were:
  1. No more than one afternoon snack.
  2. To stop eating directly from the nut butter jars.
There's definitely been more than one occasion where I've found myself with a grumbling tummy after a snack and three more hours to go until dinner. I suppose that goal just isn't attainable with my early mornings - it makes it so hard to follow a "normal" eating schedule when I eat breakfast at 6 am. Getting food in me that early kick-starts my metabolism and I have to keep feeding it all day or else I crash.

But I haven't found myself mindlessly eating out of the almond butter jar since I decided to give it up! I think the fact that it's somewhat unsanitary to repeatedly dip a utensil into it is what's keeping me on track...

Since I felt deprived from my partially finished breakfast and wasn't too hungry thanks to the sesame pretzels I had a small fruit salad for dinner. An apple, a banana and some plain yogurt w/cinnamon.
No workout last night - I wanted to get to bed early since I was out of the house for 13 hours straight yesterday. I was exhausted & in bed by 8:45. Yes, I'm that lame.

So I mentioned that we have some company coming this weekend - my husband's cousin is arriving today with a friend for one night before heading up to go snowmobiling. We are using this opportunity to persuade them to help move our (extremely heavy) couch and two recliners into the garage because we have new furniture being delivered on Sunday. I'm ok without any furniture for a couple days and my husband is planning on going snowmobiling with them so it was no big deal.

Until now.

I just found out my in-laws are coming to visit on Friday and staying until Monday. Uh, I have nothing for them to sit on! This is going to be so awkward - are we just supposed to sit on the floor?? All I will have in the living room will be a coffee table, end table and my exercise bike. Gah!

March 3:
  • Fruits: 4.5 servings
  • Veggies: 1 serving

  1. Well, I guess one person can sit on the exercise bike! Do you have a card table and chairs you could set up?

  2. There will be a lot of upset bloggers if they quit making Mighty Maple! Your fruit salad looks really good!

Uh oh to the furniture situation! Lawn chairs?! ;)

  3. I heard the rumous about Mighty Maple...not sure if they are true but some other brands make maple flavour. All hope is not lost!

    PBJ Lara = love.

Furniture situation...throw some cushions on the floor and pretend it's some Buddhist meditation room? Buy some lawn furniture that you return after the weekend? Sit in the garage? Beanbags?.. I know there are places you can rent furniture for functions like dinner parties. Worth checking out?

  4. aww I hope your appetite is back to normal today! I think that listening to your body and feeding it when it is in need of the nourishment is a good reason for you to have had that afternoon snack, so don't feel bad girlie!! you didn't snack 'just-cuz'! I hope you are having a great thursday!! xoxo!

  6. I'm with you on the "early breakfast" thing...my hunger is kind of uncontrolable after I've already started it. I say go with it...

Good luck with the no-couch situation!

  7. You know what the end of a mighty maple jar means right? Something in a jar for breakfast!

I really thought they weren't going to make the might maple anymore. I couldn't find it anywhere. BUT The Fresh Market near me just started carrying it. So I wouldn't think they'd start carrying a product the company was discontinuing :)

  9. Haha, sitting yogi-style on the floor with the in-laws- classic!!

Sometimes I love "sweet" dinners like your fruit/yogurt/cinnamon. Takes care of dessert at the same time- MULTI-TASKING- yeah!

I'm like you= up super early. It's HARD to go many hours without a snack- you should cut yourself some slack. Hunger is hunger, right? Not just a craving?

Did you say NO carb Soy Muffin???!!!! Uh, yes please~!

  11. I failed in my "no eating straight out of the almond butter jar" resolution. I have too many jars and too little self control, I suppose. C'est la vie? I guess so...

  12. Sometimes our lent promises don't happen. Don't beat yourself up about it too much. I hope your in-law seating situation gets worked out.

  13. That would really suck if they stopped making Mighty Maple! That's my favourite kind.

Good luck with the seating dilemma!
