No worries

So.

It's Saturday! How is your weekend going so far?? Mine has been pretty good. My mother in law and her husband arrived yesterday afternoon and they took us out to dinner at a nice Italian restaurant. They don't know about the blog so no pictures, but I did have the leftovers for lunch today. :)

I started off my Saturday morning with a 3 am wakeup call. Apparently my house guests don't like to turn off the bathroom light after using it. That light also illuminates our room when it is on so I woke up, waited 30 minutes to make sure they were back in bed & then got up to turn off the light. Wha?? I don't get it. Why would you wake everyone up, light up the whole upstairs & then go back to sleep??

Either way I had a fitful 3 more hours of sleep & then they decided to get up at 6am (on a Saturday!), turn on the coffee grinder and then turn on the tv at HIGH volume. Wha?? I hate playing hostess - it's seriously exhausting....but of course after all that I had to get my ass out of bed.

My husband left to go snowmobiling at 8am and then left me to it to entertain our guests. I suck at that - seriously. I did not inherit the hostess gene at all - my mom is great at it but me? Not so much.

I'll stop blabbing and focus on the rest of my day so far, sound good?

Breakfast: Greek yogurt mixed with almond butter & cinnamon w/a chopped apple.
Mid-Morning snack: Eaten in the car while running errands.I bought a new cell phone cover!! It was a highlight of my day, ok? Just roll with it...
Then I came home for some lunch and a glass of wine - yes, I had wine with lunch. Hush.Leftover pizza from last night's amazing dinner. It had roasted red pepper pesto, goat cheese, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, eggplant parmesan & basil.
My living room currently looks like this - deck chairs and the one (ugly ass pink!) recliner that I will have to move once the new stuff comes tomorrow.
Here is the "couch of death" & the matching recliner. These are in the downstairs room awaiting a pickup from Habitat for Humanity next weekend.
Here is some of the damage caused from the "couch of death".
My poor wall is caved in! See the crack?
BUT - let me be positive now. I did buy some new throw pillows that will (hopefully) go with the new color scheme. (I've been begging for this for 3 years now so please pardon my excitement!).
So much better than the blue couches, pink recliner and red throw pillows. I'm really looking forward to having a real "grown-up" living room.
In the meantime - I'm drinking wine and eagerly awaiting tomorrow.

  1. Ugh - I ate playing hostess as well. Especially when it's the in laws! Good thing you've got your wine though :)

  4. I am a terrible hostess! I am impressed by how calm you were... I think I would go loopy if I was woken up like that :P

Love the throw cushions and wine for lunch on a Saturday = PERFECTLY a-okay!

  5. LOLLLL. I hope they don't know you have a blog since you mentioned what great house guests they are. BTW I hate that sh*t. When I stay at someone's house I'm always EXTRA quiet and clean! BTW I'm laughing at your living room..that exercise equipment and the image of your inlaws is making me giggle.

  6. I don't like having people in my house at all... It's just added stress for me. I feel like I have to entertain all the time and I don't have any privacy. I'd be drinking bottles of wine ;)

  7. Hang in there with the in-laws. It sounds like they are being pretty inconsiderate! I love being the hostess, but to each her own - at least you have an outlet to vent! Good call with the wine, too. :-)
