Nebraska in Numbers

I'm finally back from Nebraska and instead of a lengthy, wordy recap I figured I would let the numbers tell my story.  Hope you enjoy!

Days gone: 3

Number of people sharing a house/cabin in Burwell, NE: 14

Number of bathrooms in said house: 1 (eeep!)

Number of times I was walked in on while going to the bathroom: 1

Showers taken: 2 (it was a miracle...)

Hours slept in 3 nights: 13

Bull riders who left the Burwell Rodeo in an ambulance: 1
Mint juleps-in-a-can shared between 8 drinking-age adults: 1  (note the glass of wine held between my knees...)
Mosquito bites: 12

Number of smashed bugs on windshield: hundreds??
Fast food meals: 1 (at Sonic)
Times we were pulled over: 2
  • Tickets issued: 1 (Dave)
  • Warnings issued: 1 (Me....HA!)
Pairs of sunglasses lost: 1 (Dave's)

Pairs of sunglasses purchased: 1 (For me...funny how that works)
Coolers packed into the backseat and bed of the truck: 14
Pounds of hormone-free, organically raised beef stuffed into those coolers:  1,376 pounds = 2 cows
Vitamin water zeros consumed: 3  (I'm officially addicted...)
Bottles of homemade apple-cinnamon wine from my sister-in-law: 1
Bags of produce from my MIL's garden: 2
Number of couples splitting the 1,376 pounds of beef: 5

Hours it took to divide it all out: 2
Coming home from a vacation with more food than you left with:  PRICELESS!!

  2. Holy cow! I was hoping you were going to say you were splitting all that meat with someone! We usually do this too, but haven't yet this year....enjoy!

  3. What a fun weekend! How awesome to have your freezer stocked up - you will never need to buy beef again!! Funny...I went on a road trip this weekend as well...and also had a million smashed bugs on my windshield, and had a stop at Sonic. Must be a summer thing!

    i ALMOST picked up a big box of vitamin water zero at sam's the other day but chickened out. i haven't tried it so i was afraid i wouldn't like it and be stuck with a bunch. but it's good?

  10. I remember my parents splitting a cow from a friend's farm with another family several times growing up. Since we split for half the beef we always ended up with some weird part of the cow, like the tongue or the tail. Thanks for bringing back the fun memory!
