Nursery Progress

This week has been in a word - stressful.  I'm working on my patience and coping skills as much as possible but I'm not a person who does well when her house is invaded for a long period of time.  In my home I'm a creature of habit, plain and simple.  When that routine is disturbed, it's not as easy for me to adjust as it may be for others.

My week started off with a bang, two days after my in-laws moved in for a week, I called in for a very last-minute, unexpected doctor's appointment with a few concerns.  I found out a couple of things: 1) I have a kidney infection that is the result of an untreated (and evidently asymptomatic) urinary tract infection.  2) My heart is spazzing out on me.  I'm being referred to a cardiologist for an EKG next week to find out why I keep having heart palpitations.  Unfortunately if I get any more I've been told to report to the ER immediately.  This makes our 5-day trip to San Diego seem a little less fun in the sun and a little more "Oh crap, where's the nearest hospital?"

There has been one good thing about having unexpected house guests, my mother-in-law loves to paint and she graciously painted the nursery for me!  I ordered a few fabric swatches as well as a custom crib skirt from BabyBedding.com and matched the paint to the swatches.
I'm quite pleased with how our little girl's room is turning out!

We went with a purple and apple green theme as you can see.  I really really hate pink so I refuse to decorate with it.  I'm sure this little girl will have enough pink in her wardrobe to get by without a pink bedroom on top of it!
This is the crib we fell in love with a couple months back.  It converts to a toddler and then a full size bed once our little one grows out of it.  We actually bought it before we knew it was a girl and Dave thought it was a little too feminine for a boy - luckily, that turned out not to be an issue.
I adore the crib skirt and I can't wait to see the whole set with the sheets/blanket we registered for.

I probably won't be posting for a few days while we are in San Diego, my in-laws (obviously) don't know about the blog and I'd like to keep it that way.  Here's hoping we have a nice stress-free babymoon and I'll be back with some photos of our last vacation before baby!

  3. Oh wow that nursery is adorable! Nice color choices.

I hope you heart palpitations are nothing too serious and that you do not have to pay the ER a visit.

  5. The nursery looks great! I refused to go with pink, too...but my baby girl got about 1 million pink outfits from friends/family. Oh well.

Hope you're having fun in San Diego, and hope all is well with you and baby girl!
